ST. PETERSBURG – The effort to turn around the declining Lealman community is about to get a major boost as Pinellas County closes in on a deal to buy 55 housing units on eight acres. The county’s Housing Finance Authority has a $4.9 million contract to buy the 26 parcels south of Lealman Elementary School in the mid-Pinellas community. The properties include duplexes, triplexes, a small apartment building, a former fire station and a church that county planning officials say will provide instant affordable housing and office space for neighborhood services.
